Art Unlimited
The Art Unlimited exhibition, created by an eclectic collection of talented artists from Salinas and the surrounding areas, features 18 paintings in a range of styles, using a variety of mediums and reflective of the culture, people, and places of the Salinas Valley, including the agricultural industry. The exhibition is “rotating” so that as paintings are sold, new pieces will be installed to ensure the consistent placement of a total of 18 paintings.
Paintings are leased by Art Unlimited to organizations for a very reasonable price to promote the community’s enjoyment of art. This is especially important for Natividad because many of the patient waiting and reception areas do not have any art - the walls are a blank canvas. The addition of paintings from Art Unlimited creates a more pleasant and welcoming environment to promote health and healing. Each painting is for sale and a portion of the proceeds support Natividad.
Featured Artists
Art Unlimited features many wonderful local artists, including Carol Parker, a member of the Carmel Art Association. Parker is a local watercolorist who taught art in the public school system for several years before starting a children’s art workshop in her studio offering private and group lessons.
Elsie Dill is one of the featured artists with Art Unlimited. Elsie works in a variety of mediums, including acrylic, oil, watercolor, and collage. Nature and her surroundings are her inspiration. Recently, she says, she visited a friend’s garden and was captured by the colors and flowers in bloom, and decided to compose a piece of artwork based on that inspiration. Elsie has received many special awards and was recently honored with the Champion of the Arts award from The Arts Council for Monterey County in 2008.
Art Unlimited includes artists Lou Roman, Grace Bryan, Faye Russo, Ed Avila, Arlene Nolan, and Joyce Valpey. In business for forty years, this group of artists often contributes scholarship money to other budding artists’ college funds.
