Community Foundation for Monterey County
In 2010, a $50,000 2:1 matching grant from the Community Foundation for Monterey County’s xx Fund helped Natividad Medical Foundation raise more than $90,000 for The Onyx Fund for Women. The Onyx Fund provides down payment assistance for working poor women for medically necessary corrective surgery for gynecologic problems such as prolapsed uterus, fibroid tumors, bleeding and incontinence. Dan Baldwin, President & CEO of Community Foundation for Monterey County said, “The Onyx Fund is a striking example of a public institution identifying and quickly responding to meet a specific and critical local need.”
In 2011, The Women’s Fund – a Field of Interest Fund of the Community Foundation for Monterey County – awarded NMF a $25,000 grant to promote economic self-sufficiency for indigenous women and meet the hospital’s growing need for qualified medical interpreters by providing qualified medical interpreter training and a supervised internship for 6 women.
In 2012, Natividad Medical Foundation awarded Community Foundation for Monterey County it's 2012 Hero Award in recognition of their 17-year history of supporting Natividad.
