Giraffes and Pandas, Oh My! 
Equipment for NICU

 

 

The Giraffe and Panda, both specialized medical equipment in the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Natividad Medical Center, have made a tremendous difference in care for our youngest patients.  The Giraffe is a warmer-incubator that enables easier access for healthcare staff to perform procedures and tests without moving the infant from the healing environment.  It also provides integrated monitoring systems that limit the need to disrupt the vulnerable infant’s warm, quiet environment.

 

More recently, support from The Agricultural Leadership Council (TALC) allowed the Foundation to purchase Pandas.  The computerized Panda is a radiant warmer to keep Cesarean-delivered newborns warm until they can be safely delivered to the nursery and placed into a Giraffe.
