According to 2009 statistics, in Monterey County, the diabetes rate is 11%, a 30% increase from 2007 statistics. The diabetes rate for the Latino population is 12.2%, a 56% increase from 2007 statistics.

The combined overweight/obesity rate is 67%, 8% higher than the state level. For the Latino population, the rate increases to 76%.
