The first question that comes to mind when speaking with Natividad Medical Center’s interim CEO William Foley's, "How did you do it!" For the first time in more than 20 years, and one of only a handful of times in its 111-year history, the Monterey County, California-owned hospi¬tal achieved positive net cash flow prior to the regular county subsidy. The accomplishment takes on greater significance when you take a look at Natividad’s recent fiscal track record: In FY 06, the hospital lost roughly $25 million and required a $21.5 million subsidy from the county just to balance the hospital’s cash flow.
