"I think I would like to write the story of this whole valley, of all the little towns and all the farms and the ranches in the wider hills. I can see how I would like to do it so that it would be the valley of the world."

John Steinbeck, Nobel Prize-winning author

The Central Coast of California covers more than 3,300 square miles and includes the lush Salinas Valley, the Monterey Peninsula and the South County region.

Agriculture is an $8 billion a year industry, and Monterey County is recognized as a world-class wine and grape-growing region. Salinas, the largest city, county seat and agricultural center, is the boyhood home of Nobel Prize-winning author John Steinbeck, who describes the town, people and surrounding area in his timeless novels, including Of Mice and Men and East of Eden.

Renowned throughout the world for its dramatic coastlines along 17-Mile Drive and its championship golf courses, the Monterey Peninsula is home to world-known attractions including Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Highway 1 runs along the coast with views of some of the world's most beautiful coastlines.

Natividad Medical Center is distinguished from other hospitals on the Central Coast by its mission to provide care to all regardless of ability to pay. Natividad Medical Foundation is passionate about raising funds to philanthropically support access to high quality healthcare for everyone in our community.
