Dr. Valerie Barnes has been the Director of Pediatric Services at Natividad Medical Center since 1987.  She is also the Medical Director of the Bates-Eldredge Clinic at Natividad, the only child sexual abuse screening clinic in Monterey County.  Dr. Barnes was the first doctor from Natividad Medical Center to receive the Monterey County Medical Society’s Physician of the Year award.

A graduate of Dublin University in Ireland, Dr. Barnes is a well-known advocate for children’s health.  Over the years, she has developed many special programs to improve health care services for the children of Monterey County including Natividad’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit – the first in Monterey County, and also the Archer Child Advocacy Center and Bates-Eldredge Clinic.  She serves as a Trustee of the California Medical Association and on several boards and committees throughout the community.
