Otomi Mexican Embroidery

This beautiful handcrafted embroidery piece reflects the vibrant heritage and colors of Mexico and measures 76” x 74”. Featuring 44 folklore-type animals and birds in shades of pinks, greens, blues and yellows, it is hand woven in the customary style of the Otomi people of Mexico.

The Artist - Indigenous Otomi Woman

The artist (pictured) is an indigenous Otomi woman who earns her living by selling embroidery pieces at an outside street market. The art form reflects the hopes and dreams of the ancestors of the Otomi people who developed this wonderfully colorful style of embroidery. These zoomorphic figures are embroidered on hand drawn outlines or stamped with color combinations varying from multi colored to a single tone.
