"Spring Lettuce on River Road"
"Spring Lettuce on River Road" – a dramatic panoramic photograph of the vibrant crops the Salinas Valley is so well known for – was the first installation in the NATIVIDAD ART: A Journey of Healing exhibition at Natividad Medical Center. "Spring Lettuce on River Road" depicts the fields of Hess Ranch on River Road in Salinas.
The Artist – Kirk Kennedy
Kirk Kennedy, a native of Salinas and well known landscape and row crop photographer, began his professional photography career in 2001 when the digital age was in its infancy. Kennedy has always been passionate about capturing and preserving images of the local landscapes and scenery with an emphasis on showcasing the agricultural lands.
He has perfected his own technique for capturing progressive digital images of a scene from left to right, then putting them back together digitally to create and preserve striking full landscapes from throughout Monterey County, including the spectacular coastlines of Big Sur and the vibrant expanses of our growing fields in Spring.
