Yellow Brick Road Benefit Shop
A $2,000 grant from the Yellow Brick Road Benefit Shop – a ministry of Carmel Presbyterian Church – supported 80 hours of hospital chaplain care to patients and their families. State law prohibits NMC, a county-owned and operated public hospital, from paying for chaplain services. Natividad relies solely on philanthropic donations to support the more than 3,200 spiritual care visits provided each year.
Carol Jordan, NMC’s Chief Nursing Officer, says, “When patients are facing a difficult diagnosis, lengthy treatments or end of life, it can create serious stress for them and their family. Our chaplains offer a listening ear, inspiration and comfort during these times, and we are deeply grateful to Yellow Brick Road for helping us continue this essential service for our safety net patients.”
